With Experience turning 10 this year, we decided to throw a wicked birthday party to celebrate with clients and the wider events industry.
We wanted to make this more than a standard drinks reception (that would have been too easy!) and instead use the opportunity to showcase our creativity, design and production skills – whilst still providing an entertaining and interactive evening.
As a starting point, we asked the team to think back to what they wanted to be when they were 10 years old. The diverse range of answers, from chefs to explorers, vets to performers, gave us the idea to create an experiential event that would allow attendees to delve into our collective imaginations, whilst having some fun on the way.
We chose the venue, 15 Bateman Street in the heart of Soho, with its Central London location and quirky, blank-canvas, multi-roomed space it was the perfect spot for us to bring our various childhood imaginations to life.
It was an ‘experience’ inspired by Experience!
As guests arrived, they were welcomed into the main party space, complete with DJ (the one-and-only Sally K), birthday cake and celebratory glass of fizz, with wall art teasing the other rooms to be explored.
“I wanted to be a chef…”
Guests could see their party canapes being created in a live kitchen, whilst also concocting their own pick-n-mix sweet combinations.
“I wanted to be a detective…”
An interactive murder mystery for guests to deduce “whodunnit” from clues in the room (with a prize draw of those who solved it correctly)
“I wanted to be a performer…”
We created the 10 Club, a cabaret space with live comedy performances running throughout the event.
“I wanted to be an explorer…”
A jungle-themed space where braver guests could feel their way to prizes, and explore new worlds through virtual reality.
“I wanted to work with animals…”
Our friends at the Cuddle Club brought along some furry playmates for our guests to cuddle in a garden-styled space (also a great way to de-stress from the day job!)
Our creative team designed every element of the event, from the neon window sign that greeted guests, through to all the artwork, and even the bespoke VR experience. We then leveraged our network of trusted suppliers to produce and source all graphics, AV elements, props and furniture, and called on the lovely people at Lettice to provide the catering. The install took eight hours and de-rig was completed in five.
We had around 100 lovely guests attend the party, here’s what a few of them said…
A seriously cool event production agency
Thanks for a fun night, it was great!
So enjoyable and great to raise a glass to your achievements
